ABOUT JOSHUA

IMG_4426.jpg

Joshua Yardy began his musical journey early on with cornet lessons at the age of seven. His passion for creativity was undeniable from there forward, spending his time in drama classes, choirs, brass bands, and jazz ensembles throughout his school years. After completing A Level Music at the Queen Elizabeth School in Kirby Londsdale, he is now pursuing a BMus Hons. in Composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales.

Yardy’s musical language is constantly growing and developing as he finds new influences in the world around him. His most recent works find basis in whimsy and lightheartedness, which emulate his sensitivity to childhood experiences and good humor.

His projects cover a vast rage of concert spaces—from a solo piano piece premiered in London’s OXO Tower Wharf, to a selection of pieces for string instruments in Little Man Coffee shop, to a new collaborative opera ‘Cross the Door’ which had its inaugural performance at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s 2019 Atmospheres Festival. He has also written and recorded his own autobiographical concept album entitled ‘Growing Pains’ which depicts his personal journey with depression.
